DELFT BLANKET COMPETITION
I am so excited to be able to reveal the winning entries in our recent Delft Colouring in Competition. We received more than 230 entries and once the 5 finalists were revealed back in May we had more than 2300 people vote for their favourite motif. The 3 winning entires are shown above.
Back in February 2019 we asked people to complete and send a coloured in motif taken from my Delft Crochet Blanket design as we thought it would be lovely to see the design realised in some new colour ways. We joined forces with Stylecraft Yarns and Simply Crochet Magazine to launch a fun colouring in competition.
The standard of the entries was incredibly high and the judging panel had a hard time picking their favourites. In May we revealed the crochet motifs based on the coloured in paper entries from the 5 chosen finalists and these were then put to a public vote.

The runaway winner with almost 40% of the votes is Debby Gould’s ‘Fiore’ colourway, followed by Katie Mulliner’s ‘Rose Garden in Bloom’ and Jackie Walker’s ‘Bejewelled’.
Fiore - Debby Gould says:
‘I love to crochet. It’s my escape from a busy working life. I make anything from tiny amigurumi to blankets, there is always something in my basket waiting to be finished. I really enjoy experimenting with colour, and just putting colours together can inspire me to make something new. When I was choosing the palette for the competition I had to think about the colours that work together and how they might look in the Delft pattern. It was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.’
Rose Garden in Bloom - Katie Mulliner says:
‘I have thoroughly enjoyed putting the colourway together and I can’t wait to start crocheting this beautiful pattern. It’s given me the confidence to try putting my own colour ideas together on future projects too. I love how it looks made up as a blanket I can’t wait to get started on it! I really enjoyed choosing the colours and getting my pencil crayons out and now I’m looking forward to actually crocheting it. I’m planning on giving the finished blanket to my Dad to say thank you for all those rose petals he let us pick to make our ‘perfume’.’
Bejewelled - Jackie Walker says:
“I’m thrilled my colour choices resonated with other people. I’m a magpie for bright colours and love to share my crocheted creations with friends, family and work colleagues; spreading hugs, happiness and smiles on the way.”
