The Spirit of Flora project ran as a monthly crochet along in Inside Crochet Magazine in 2023, then when the rights reverted to me, the patterns were re-released in sets of 4 motifs over the summer months of 2024. This project differs to my past CAL projects in that I want to encourage you to release a little of your own design potential to create a unique and personal project. I have designed twelve patterned square blocks (you can see them all further down this page) along with some plain blocks, all of which will be shown in alternative colour orders using a palette of thirteen yarn shades. You can seek out the shades I have used from your local Stylecraft yarn stockist or purchase a kit from us: you can find them here. Alternatively, you could choose to stash dive and use up some of the special yarns you have hidden away at home! Either way, the emphasis is on creating a project that suits your style and purpose. You could choose to make a large blanket using forty-eight crochet squares, or you might want to make a smaller one using fewer motifs or fewer repeated blocks. You might want to make a bag, a cushion or a shawl for example. There are endless possibilities and I really hope you will feel inspired to join me on this exciting crochet along journey. There is a comprehensive playlist of videos to support this project over on our YouTube channel.
Please note that the videos are designed to be used in conjunction with the pattern and so do not show every round of all motifs. There is also a dedicated Spirit of Flora Facebook group which you may find to be a useful source of support. If you are interested in looking at my mood board for this project you can find it on Pinterest here. |

The Festival of Flowers Shawl you can see in the photo to the right is made using three of the motif patterns from the collection: Leaf Trellis, Evelyn and Pair of Roses. A guidance document for the shawl is available to download free of charge by clicking here or on the image.
An eBook containing the three motif patterns needed together with the guidance document is available to purchase on Ravelry here. |
