DECORATIONS
I love the way unpacking the decorations year after year and arranging them around the house brings back lots of lovely
memories and good feelings. Handmade decorations make extra special gifts as they convey that sentiment too
and are a great way of using up odds and ends of yarn from your stash.
The brightly coloured beaded crochet decorations first appeared in Inside Crochet magazine. They use small amounts of
Stylecraft Naturals - Bamboo & Cotton yarn, but you could use any left overs of DK weight yarn. The 16 page pattern includes
step-by-step instructions (with images) for adding beads to your crochet. There are 4 decorations included in the pattern,
each shown in two alternative colourways.
The pattern is available in UK & US terms either as a paper brochure or as a download via Etsy and Ravelry.
To make the simple grey crochet decorations I have used four shades of yarn for a more contemporary look and I have used
cream and red yarn for the stockings. I think these projects would look great made with all sorts of yarn types and colours
with added buttons, beads and ribbons to add in a big splash of fun!
The patterns for the grey hanging decorations include written instructions for five decorations. I have given an alternative
sequence of yarn usage for each decoration, so have shown ten decorations in the images. The pattern for the mini festive
stockings includes instructions to make a plain or striped version with a choice of different tops
including a beaded cuff, a fan edge cuff, bobbles and crochet holly detail.
The patterns are written for DK weight yarn in UK terms. A list of US equivalents is included.
You will also need some beads.
